According to the calendar of Gregorian , New Year's Eve (also known as Old Year's Day or The Saint Sylvester's Day in most countries), which is on December 31, the last day of an year and exactly eight days after Christmas. In most countries, New Year's Eve is celebrated at evening social gatherings, where many people dance, eat, having alcoholic beverages, and enjoy watching or lightening fireworks to mark the new year. The celebrations generally go on past midnight into January 1 (New Year's Day).
